Cotton and polyester behave differently, and neither is better in every situation.

Cotton

Breathable, soft and comfortable in heat. It creases more, takes longer to dry, and light colours can dull over many washes. Cotton and cotton-rich shirts suit business and casual wear where comfort matters more than a crisp finish at the end of the day.

Polyester

Holds colour, resists wrinkles and dries quickly. It is the base for printed and rhinestone styles because decoration adheres better and stays sharp. The trade-off is less breathability; a looser fit and a blend solve most of that.

Blends

A cotton-polyester blend keeps some breathability while reducing creasing — a practical middle for travel and everyday wear.
