Hawaiian shirts live or die on print scale and drape. A large, confident print in a fabric with some movement reads as deliberate; the same print on stiff, shiny fabric reads as costume.

Fabric

Lightweight polyester and cotton blends hold colour and resist creasing, which matters for an all-over print. A slightly heavier weave hangs better and does not cling. Look for a print that is sharp at the seams, not faded or misaligned across the placket.

Fit

These shirts are meant to sit loose. Take your usual size if you want a clean fit; size up if you plan to wear it open over a tee. Check the chest and length measurements on the product page rather than assuming the letter.

Wearing it

Keep the rest quiet: plain trousers or denim, no competing pattern. Roll the sleeves once and leave the top two buttons open.
