Fabric
Lightweight cotton and cotton blends breathe and feel dry quickly. Polyester resists wrinkles and holds colour but traps heat unless the cut is loose. A plain weave or a slightly open texture moves air better than a tight, coated surface.
Colour and cut
Light colours reflect heat; dark colours absorb it. A relaxed cut lets air move between the fabric and your skin, which matters more than the fibre when the temperature climbs. Short sleeves help, but a loose long-sleeve shirt often feels cooler than a tight short-sleeve one.
